Blazers and loafers. The perfect combination fitting of a casual day out or a smart dinner alike and one of my absolute favourites. Todays outfit is rooted in an androgynous ideal while maintaining a feminine flair. There aren’t many things I love more than an outfit that relinquishes gender norms, embracing gender fluidity, reflecting a desire for inclusivity within society and the newest addition to my wardrobe, the unisex Dr. Martens Adrian Smooth Leather Loafers perfectly serve the look.

THE OUTFIT

For the base of the outfit, I paired the TopShop Black Cigarette Trousers with the TopShop Black Ribbed Button Vest. Both have been in my wardrobe for around three years and are still in great condition after endless washes, maintaining their shape and feel despite the low expectations I typically have from the brand.

As the defining piece of this look, the Cord Blazer from Country Road, now sold out, elevates the ensemble, adding structure and texture. This piece is made from 100% cotton. Natural fibers are always what I look for in clothing as they will always hold shape better, also sustainable and better for the environment. THE LOAFERS

The Dr. Martens Adrian Smooth Leather Loafers are the latest addition to my wardrobe. I am always in the market for a good pair of loafers and have been searching for a chunky pair with a more masculine appeal to add in to the mix. Dr. Martens has been a brand I’ve never purchased from before, but the Adrian style ticked all the boxes so here we are. I opted for the version without the signature yellow stitching for a more classic look and I am ecstatic about them. They fit true to size and are of very nice quality. If you have been eyeing them out I would definitely recommend. Some breaking in will be needed which is standard for most leather shoes, but I’m sure just like their boots are known to do, once broken in they will be the epitome of comfort.

THE MAKEUP

For my makeup today I kept it very simple, leaving my skin natural with only a small amount of concealer under the eyes, the Maybelline Brow Drama Sculpting Brow Mascara to keep the crazies in place and a blown out application of the Pat McGrath Labs MatteTrance Lipstick in the shade Flesh 3 on the lips.

Leaving the eyes natural when wearing a bold lip gives it a more modern feel with a more subdued femininity, which is the perfect match for todays more structured outfit.
